Chapter 8 – Menus

1. The First Stop: Appearance → Menus (The Place You Think Controls Everything)

Naturally, the first place anyone goes is:

Appearance → Menus

This should be the control center. But in ListingPro 3.0, it isn’t.

What I did discover here was important:

ListingPro 3.0 installs TWO Explore menus:

  1. Classic2 Explore Category
  2. Classic2 Explore Locations

Both appear in a dropdown where you can select and edit them.

But here’s the catch:

  • The Category menu only shows a limited set of categories.
  • The Locations menu doesn’t allow adding locations at all.
  • And any changes made here take a long time to show up — if they show up at all.

This is the first clue that Appearance → Menus is not the true control panel.

2. The Second Stop: Appearance → Headers (Where Things Almost Make Sense)

Next, I went to:

Appearance → Headers

This is where ListingPro stores the header templates — and this is where things finally started to click.

Inside the header editor, I found both Explore menus again:

  • Classic2 Explore Categories
  • Classic2 Explore Locations

And here — finally — I could:

  • Add my six locations
  • Publish the changes
  • And see them appear in Appearance → Menus

But even then…

The live site did NOT update.

Not immediately. Not after refresh. Not after clearing cache.

Hours later, the menus appeared in Appearance → Menus… …but still not on the live website.

So what was controlling the live header?

3. The Real Answer: Elementor Controls the Explore Menus

The breakthrough came when I opened the Home page in Elementor.

I clicked the Explore heading box — the widget that displays the Explore navigation.

And in the left panel, the truth finally revealed itself:

Elementor controls the Explore menus.

Inside the widget settings were:

  • Menu Name
  • Menu Visibility
  • Select Nav Menu

And under Select Nav Menu were the two tabs:

  • Categories
  • Locations

The moment I selected the correct menu and hit Publish…

The Explore menus updated instantly on the live site.

No delay. No caching. No mystery.

Just immediate results.

4. The Final Understanding: ListingPro 3.0 Is Elementor

This is the key takeaway:

ListingPro 3.0 uses Elementor as the final authority for Explore menus.

  • Appearance → Menus shows the menus
  • Appearance → Headers lets you edit them
  • But Elementor decides which one is actually displayed

That’s why:

  • Changes in Appearance → Menus take forever
  • Changes in Appearance → Headers don’t go live
  • But Elementor updates instantly

Elementor is the switchboard. Elementor is the controller. Elementor is the final step.
