The address is the most important piece of information in any business listing. When a consumer searches a directory, they are almost always looking for one thing above all else: Where is this business located, and how do I contact them?

A complete listing must answer:

• Where is it? (street address, city, map pin)
• How do I reach them? (phone, website, email, text)
• How do I learn more? (social media, hours, photos)

If the address is missing, inaccurate, or pinned incorrectly on the map, the listing fails its primary purpose. For this reason, the Address section of the ListingPro form deserves special attention — and, unfortunately, it is also the most confusing part of the entire system.

Understanding ListingPro’s Address Design

ListingPro’s address system is not designed like a normal address form. Instead of starting with a street address, the form is built around coordinates and city‑level lookup, which creates confusion for administrators entering data manually.

When the Address section loads, it presents three options:

1. “Use My Location” (GPS Button)

This button pulls the device’s current GPS location.

• Works well for a business owner standing inside their shop
• Completely useless for administrators
• Always loads your address and coordinates (e.g., 2307 S State Road 67, Paragon)

2. “Pinpoint on Map” — How It Actually Works

The “Pinpoint on Map” option sounds simple, but it only works correctly after the map has been localized. ListingPro does not automatically know what city you are working in.

Step 1 — You MUST enter the city first

Before clicking “Pinpoint on Map,” you must:

1. Type the city name into the Address line
2. Wait for Google’s suggestion dropdown
3. Click the city from the Google list

This step is mandatory. If you skip it, the map will default to:

• Paragon (your GPS location), or
• Soho, London (ListingPro’s hard‑coded fallback)

Step 2 — THEN click “Pinpoint on Map”

Once the city is selected:

• The map jumps to that city
• You can drag the pin
• Coordinates populate automatically

Step 3 — The problem: finding the exact address

Even after the map is centered on the correct city, manually dragging the pin to the exact business location is:

• Slow
• Inaccurate
• Hard for rural areas
• Nearly impossible for long roads or industrial parks

Most admins end up switching back and forth between ListingPro and Google Maps just to find the right spot.

Step 4 — Why coordinates are the BEST method

Because the “Pinpoint on Map” tool is imprecise, the only way to guarantee an exact map location is to:

1. Search the business in Google Maps
2. Right‑click the pin
3. Choose “What’s here?” or “Share”
4. Copy the latitude and longitude
5. Paste them into ListingPro

This method is:

• Exact
• Fast
• Reliable
• Works every time

3. “Enter Coordinates Manually”

This is the most misunderstood part of the form.

When selected:

• The form loads blank
• It immediately asks for a city, not a street address
• Entering a street address alone does not generate coordinates
• Only typing a city triggers Google’s coordinate lookup

This means the form is fundamentally designed for cities, not street addresses.

The Correct Workflow for Getting a Proper Address + Map

Because the form is designed around coordinates, the only reliable way to produce a correct street address and a correct map pin is to obtain the coordinates yourself.

Step‑by‑Step Workflow

1. Google the business name
   • Get address, phone, website
2. Copy the address into Google Maps
   • Verify the correct location
3. Right‑click the pin → “What’s here?” or “Share”
   • Copy the latitude and longitude
4. Paste coordinates into ListingPro
   • Latitude
   • Longitude
5. Enter the street address
6. Enter the city
7. Select the correct Location (your 6 regions)

Result:

• Correct printed street address
• Correct map pin
• Correct city assignment
• Correct region assignment

• Clicks “Use My Location”

Spreadsheet Uploads

Spreadsheet uploads are the fastest way to populate a directory — but they come with limitations:

• You can upload street address, city, phone, website, etc.
• You cannot upload coordinates unless you already have them
• Without coordinates, ListingPro defaults the map to Paragon or London
• You cannot “pinpoint” locations during import

If you want correct map pins, you must include coordinates in the spreadsheet.

Troubleshooting Box: “Why Does My Map Show London?”

Your map shows London when:

• No city is entered
• No coordinates are entered
• The form cannot determine a location

Your map shows Paragon when:

• You clicked “Use My Location”
• The system used your GPS
• You entered a street address without coordinates

Fix:

Always enter the city AND the coordinates.
