CHAPTER 4 — The Hero Banner: What’s Easy, What’s Hidden, and What We Discovered

When we reached Challenge #3 in our ListingPro 3.0 journey, we stepped into the biggest visual element of the entire site: the Hero Banner.

We had already solved:

  1. The Logo (with support’s help)
  2. The Footer (also with support’s help)

So we assumed the Hero Banner would be similar — a setting, a toggle, a media picker, something obvious.

It wasn’t.

But the story of how we learned to edit it is exactly the kind of thing new 3.0 users will appreciate.

The Easy Part: Text, Tagline, and Links

When we opened Home – Classic 2 in Elementor, we were relieved to see that the text elements in the Hero Banner were completely editable:

  • The main headline
  • The tagline
  • The “Photo Courtesy” line
  • The link attached to it

Changing the headline to “Explore Paragon Indiana” took seconds. The tagline updated instantly. The search bar looked great without any effort.

So far, so good.

The Surprise Feature: “Photo Courtesy of…”

Below the category buttons, we noticed a small line:

At first, we assumed this was leftover demo text. But when we clicked it, it linked directly to the Sushi Kashimba listing.

That’s when we realized:

✔ This is NOT a credit line

✔ This is NOT a random leftover

✔ This is a built‑in featured business link

✔ This is PRIME real estate

This tiny line can be turned into:

FEATURED BUSINESS: Boar’s Nest (link to the listing)

Or:

Spotlight Today: Tomato Pie Pizza Joint

Or:

Local Favorite: Paragon Hardware

This is a powerful built‑in design feature that most users will overlook — but it’s one of the best ways to highlight a business right in the Hero Banner.

And it’s fully editable in Elementor.

No coding. No theme settings. Just click → edit text → change link.

The Hard Part: The Banner Image Itself

This is where the real challenge began.

We searched everywhere:

  • Theme Options
  • ListingPro Settings
  • Elementor sections
  • Widgets
  • Templates
  • Media Library

Nothing pointed to the Hero Banner image.

We even found a file in Media Library named:

banner-bg-image.png

…but renaming it in Media did nothing. That’s when we learned:

Renaming a file in WordPress Media does NOT rename the actual file on the server.

So the homepage kept loading the original image.

After hours of searching, we finally discovered the truth:

✔ The Hero Banner image is loaded directly from a file on the server

✔ It is NOT controlled by a visible setting in 3.0

✔ The real file lives in the uploads folder

The path looked like this:

/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/banner-bg-image.png

Once we found it, the solution became clear:

  1. Download the original file (backup).
  2. Create our own Paragon banner.
  3. Export it as a PNG at the same size (1920×720).
  4. Name it exactly the same: banner-bg-image.png
  5. Upload it through cPanel to overwrite the original.
  6. Refresh the homepage.

And it worked.

This is not the official Cridio method. This is the backdoor method — but it’s the only method we could find.

Why This Chapter Matters for New 3.0 Users

Most beginners will:

  • Easily edit the text
  • Easily edit the tagline
  • Easily edit the “Featured Business” link
  • Struggle to find where the banner image is controlled

This chapter shows:

  • What’s simple
  • What’s hidden
  • What’s powerful
  • What requires cPanel
  • What needs clarification from support

Once we learn the official method from support, we’ll publish a clean, step‑by‑step tutorial for beginners.

But for now, Chapter 4 tells the truth:

The Hero Banner is half easy, half mystery — and the “Featured Business” link is a hidden gem worth using every day.

In Chapter 4, we’ll walk through our temporary “backdoor” fix. This solution works, but it is not the official Cridio way of doing things and should be treated only as a workaround. Once John from support provides the proper method, we’ll document the official “true path” in a clear, step‑by‑step guide and update this chapter accordingly.

Why Elementor Still Shows the Old Banner Image After applying our temporary backdoor fix, the live site correctly loads the new Hero Banner image. However, Elementor may still display the old image inside the editor. This happens because Elementor uses a cached preview and does not detect theme‑level changes made outside its interface. Since our workaround bypasses the official Cridio method, Elementor’s editor iframe continues to load the previous cached asset.

This is normal behavior when using a non‑Elementor override. Once Cridio support provides the official method, the editor and the live site will stay in sync.
